Kanalia's Tree

whenever i go Upstate, I see 'Kanalia's' tree. He planted it. It still is. He is not.

He was married to a Colombian woman and left his genes to a daughter, fat and dysfunctional. He was burned to ashes after he died. That was his wife's desire. She couldn't afford to buy the land, to bury him, to remember him.

Forty years ago, he jumped off the ship to the 'land of dreams' to get a job. He made others rich and gained a cracked back and disability. He used to shoot his thoughts after excessive drinking to calm down his pain. He used parody - his daily food for thought.

An immigrant from the island of the Minoans.
